Lefkimmi Salterns
The saltmarsh of Lefkimmi in Corfu is located north of the small town of Lefkimmi. The area was named after the salterns that used to operate at the coast. Today, it is a 2,5 km long beach surrounded by an outstanding natural landscape, blue waters and a very “rich” wildlife. Lefkimmi Salterns have been included in the Natura 2000 network, something that proves the importance of this unique ecosystem and the rare protected bird species (over 180) that live nearby the beach and the salterns.
